According to a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, the ongoing conflict that has been ripping the party apart looks to have been settled as the 2023 elections get near.
The aspirant for governor was speaking hours after he and 17 other party candidates for governor met Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, at his private villa in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area (LGA).
The gathering was attended by 15 other states’ candidates for governor, as well as those from Katsina, Sokoto, and Jigawa.
“Our conversation was fruitful, and the result was good. Throughout the meeting, Governor Wike made us feel at home.
The governorship candidate is quoted by Vanguard as stating, “At the end of the meeting, Wike promised to a ceasefire and being an honourable guy, the governor will not do anything that will undermine the interest of the party until all the problems are handled.”

In advance of the general elections in 2023, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party will convene today (Thursday), according to this newspaper.
It should also be remembered that Wike notably skipped a meeting Atiku had with the party’s 2023 former presidential candidates. The meeting on Wednesday at Atiku’s home in Asokoro, Abuja, was also without the participation of Anyim Pius Anyim and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Dele Momodu, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, Tari Oliver, and Charles Ugwu are among those in attendance.
