The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party is welcome to reconciliation, according to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his friends (PDP).
Speaking after the G5—four of his allies—visited Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, Wike said that they had never completely shut the door on peace.
The visit follows news that the governor of Bauchi is preparing to withdraw from the party’s presidential primary over allegations that Atiku’s supporters are conspiring to defeat his bid for reelection.
In an effort to settle the most recent dispute inside the main opposition party, Governor Mohammed paid a visit to Atiku on Tuesday in Abuja.

His resignation letter, he claimed, was prepared with “complete honesty, sincerity, and a great feeling of fidelity.” The governor claimed that the visit to Atiku provided an excellent opportunity to “extensively” examine the concerns highlighted in the letter.
“I have stated severally that we are here for reconciliation. We have never closed the door for reconciliation. All we are calling for is equity, fairness, and justice. In fact, that is the hallmark that PDP stands for. We have never closed the door and we would not close the door,” Wike said after the Wednesday visit to Bauchi State.
“All we are saying is, ‘Look, let the right thing be done.’ If the right thing is done, the whole country would know that the election is over. This G5 you are seeing is the bedrock of the party so we would not close the door for reconciliation; we are open for reconciliation any day, anytime.”
