The G5 Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Governors request, according to Benue Governor Samuel Ortom, is made in the national interest of Nigerians rather than for personal gain.
This was said by Ortom on Friday when Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu, hosted him along with Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers, and Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia. Ortom claims their demand is to make sure that justice, equity, and fairness are practised in the party. He also stated that he wants to see Nigeria develop into a nation where things are done in an orderly manner.

According to him, their insistence on “doing the right thing in the PDP and the country at large was not for their personal interest, but for the interest of other Nigerians and their belief in the rule of law” rather than their own interests.
“God has blessed Nigeria with both human and material resources, such that what was needed was for the people to come together irrespective of party and religious sentiments to make it, not just as the giant of Africa but that of the world.
“By the grace of God, the PDP would win all elections next year to enable the party to carry out the task of rescuing the country from the APC,” he said.
Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ogwuanyi, and Nyesom Wike are among those pushing for Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, to step down.
Five PDP governors have decided to abandon the party’s presidential campaign as a result of the demand’s rift within the party.
The idea that the party’s presidential candidate and national chairman should not be from the same region underlies the governors’ demand for Ayu’s resignation.
