Cristiano Ronaldo was passed over when AC Milan and Italy icon Paolo Maldini listed the top three players he had ever seen compete.
The former defender listed Ronaldo Nazario, Lionel Messi, and Diego Maradona as his favourite three footballers.
Maldini, who spent a year and a half on the field with the iconic striker at Milan and frequently faced him during the latter’s five-year stay at Inter, made the comment in a forthcoming documentary about the Brazilian Ronaldo titled “The Phenomenon.”
During a dazzling career that lasted over 25 years, Maldini competed for one of the greatest teams in history and faced some outstanding footballers. The five-time UEFA Champions League champion responded as follows when asked to select the top three players he has ever seen:
“The three greatest players I saw during my career were Messi, Maradona and him [Ronaldo Nazario].”
One of the most intimidating strikers in history, Ronaldo Nazario played for numerous elite European clubs. During his great career, which included playing for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and AC Milan, he also captained Brazil to the FIFA World Cup victory in 2002.
He finished his career with 295 goals for clubs and 62 goals in 99 games for his country. Many people believe that the Brazilian transformed the way forwards are played because of his remarkable speed, close control, and power.
