Adegboyega Oyetola, Governor of Osun State, has appointed Sunday Akere and Debo Badru as Special Advisers on Political Matters.
Funke Egbemode, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, issued a statement shortly after the State Executive Council meeting on Monday.
The appointments of Akere and Badru will take effect on October 18, 2021, according to the statement.
Akere, a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the State, graduated from the University of Ibadan with a Bachelor of Science degree.
He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, and the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration in Ghana.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research’s Governing Board.
Akere previously served as a member of the Presidential Transition and Inauguration Team in May 2015, Chairman of the All Progressive Congress State Congress Committee to Abia State in 2014, member of the All Progressive Congress National Convention Committee in May 2018, and Secretary to the Osun State All Progressive Congress State Congress Committee in October 2021, among many other political positions.
Badru, from Osun State’s Iwo local government, is a respected community leader who holds a Diploma from the Nigerian Air Force Technical Training School in Kaduna and served as an Air Force Officer between 1983 and 1990 before entering politics.
