Out of the backlog of more than 300,000 international passports, the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, reveals that 204,322 are now available for pickup. He also states that the ministry is collaborating with the immigration service and their vendors to ensure that beginning in 2019, international passports are delivered directly to Nigerians’ preferred addresses.
At a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, Tunji-Ojo, who had asked Nigerians to pick up their unclaimed passports, revealed that only 99,901 of the available passports had been picked up.

Recall that when taking office, the Minister promised the ministry’s management, personnel, and agencies that he would lead from the front and not the back to carry out its mandates.
It is on the basis of trust that the country would fulfil the policy thrust of renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s programme of renewed hope, he said, adding that he would offer leadership from the front with trust and that he asked the management and staff to do the same because he doesn’t know it all.
