According to the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), over 180 million telephone lines are now linked to National Identity Numbers (NIN).

This disclosure was made during an address by Prof Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), on Tuesday, during the Public Inquiry on three Regulatory Instruments on the Rule Making Process at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

According to Danbatta, this is the result of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) registering over 60 million Nigerians in the National Identity Numbers (NIN) database.
