Prior to Saturday’s governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governors and other party dignitaries gathered in Osun State.
The governors are in the state to attend the PDP’s mass gathering and to back Ademola Adeleke, the party’s nominee, in the election.
The governors of Bayelsa State’s Douye Diri, Edo State’s Godwin Obaseki, Sokoto State’s Aminu Tambuwal, and Delta State’s Ifeanyi Okowa, who is also the party’s vice presidential candidate, are all in the state.
Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s nominee for president, and Bukola Saraki, the former leader of the Senate, are both in attendance.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is noticeably absent, though.
Wike is upset with the PDP leadership for selecting Okowa to be Atiku’s running mate.
The Rivers governor, who finished second in the party’s presidential primary, was rumored to be interested in Okowa’s vice presidential position.
