Osun State’s governor, senator Ademola Adeleke, referred to the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s decision of Friday, January 27, 2023 as “a miscarriage of justice” and vowed to appeal the decision.
Governor Adeleke criticised the tribunal’s decision to rule in favour of Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, calling it “an unjust interpretation against the will of the majority of people” while reacting from his rural home in Ede.

Insisting that he is still the legitimate victor of the July 16 gubernatorial election, Governor Adeleke pledged to fight the decision at the Appellate Court while pleading with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members and supporters to maintain their composure.
“I call on our people to remain calm. We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done. Let our people be reassured that we will do everything possible to retain this widely acclaimed mandate,” Governor Adeleke declared.
