Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate in Osun State, stated on Monday that the people of the state had given incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola a red card ahead of the July 16 election.
Senator Adeleke said he will be announced as Governor after the election on July 16, 2022, after the party’s Chairman, Mr Sunday Bisi, introduced the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate at the party’s Secretariat in Osogbo.
Adeleke, who spoke in Yoruba, asked citizens to ensure that Oyetola would not be re-elected as governor of the state by overwhelmingly supporting his (Adeleke’s) gubernatorial ambition.
“I can see fear written all over Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, this is not the time to be afraid, he should wait till election day when he will be confronted with reality”.
Earlier in his speech, the deputy governorship candidate unveiled Mr Kola Adewusi, who urged those who were enraged by his decision to sheath their swords in the party’s interest and work for its electoral victory.
In response to Adeleke’s remark, Oluomo Sunday Akere, Governor Oyetola’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, called the PDP’s candidate dream of winning the election on July 16 as a tall order.
“The people of Osun know what they want and they will not exchange quality for quantity. However, we are not interested in joining issues with them. He and the PDP should wait till after the election to know who is being butted out of the state.
“Oyetola has gotten the support of the people of the state through his numerous infrastructural development and programmes which has endeared him to the masses. We are sure of his coming back to the office”, he said.
