According to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, Nigeria must move quickly on pressing issues including the economy and the current Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.
The vice president made this statement when receiving the APC governors on Tuesday in his office at the presidential villa as part of a felicitation visit as he recovered from surgery last month, according to a statement made available by the vice president’s media adviser, Lolu Akande.
Osinbajo welcomed the governors and thanked them for their presence and well wishes.
The VP also praised the proficiency of Nigerian medical professionals and the presence of state-of-the-art medical facilities in the nation. However, he regretted that laws prohibiting doctors from advertising meant that many people were uninformed of the calibre of local medical services.
Important national issues, particularly those relating to the economy and the ASUU strike, were also brought up during the meeting’s brief engagement that followed.
According to reports, the vice president and the governors agreed to discuss these and other serious concerns in order to find an immediate solution for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
