The Acting Chairman of Ondo State chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Dele Thomas has called on the Inspector General of Police to order the Ondo State Commissioner of police to lock the party secretariat in the State.
The call was made in a statement made available to pressmen in Akure, on Monday, July 6, 2020.
Thomas said that the seal will prevent the crisis in the party from further degenerating.
The State working Committee of the party which had been faced with a tussle, had declared a dissolution by Prof. Tunde Adeniran-led NWC of the party as illegal.
It was reported that Hon. Korede Duyile has stepped aside for a caretaker committee to handle the affairs of the party till the commencement of the party convention.
“The Constitution of SDP in article 13 I and 13 III clearly stipulate the powers, responsibility and limitations of the powers of the National working committee.
“It is a glaring fact of law that the Admiral left NWC whose tenure of office has elapsed in accordance with article 19. 1 of SDP constitution does not possess the Constitutional power to dissolve Ondo State working committee.
The acting chairman however accused ,Dr. Olu Agunloye of creating an office for himself as the Deputy National Chairman South, which he claim was alien to the party Constitution.
He appeal to the National leader of the party, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye to intervene in the crisis.
