Police in Ondo town, Ondo State, have pulled at least 77 kids out of a church’s basement in the Valentino neighborhood.
According to information acquired by InsightnaijaTV, there are a total of 77 victims, including 25 youngsters and 52 adults.
The pastor in charge of the church, David Anifowose, stated in a statement while being paraded at the police headquarters, along Igbatoro Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Saturday. He claimed to have gotten a command from God telling them to camp in the church till his second coming.
“I was the one that received the instruction from God that the people can stay in the church and wait for his second coming. And my members were waiting for the second coming of Jesus when the policemen invaded the church and arrested us.”
Olasunkami Olafisoye, a 24-year-old university graduate and a member of the congregation, claimed she disobeyed her parents because they were steering her away from God.
Olafisoye said, “My parents are not attending the church again. When we left our former church, they usually stayed at home and before then, I am not comfortable with the Bible teaching of the church.
“I later joined this church because my parent is leading me away from God and I want to make heaven. I love the way the church followed Jesus and the way they hold on to Christ.”
This occurs just a few days after the Department of State Security (DSS) conducted a raid at a home in the JMDB quarters neighborhood of the Tudun Wada LGA of Plateau State and freed 21 young people, among them almajirai.
The victims claimed that they were brought to the residence against their will and coerced into becoming Christians.
The pastor of Christ High Commission Ministry in Kaduna State, Nuah Abraham, was also invited by the Ekiti police command in April for questioning regarding claims that he demanded N310,000 from church members to get them ready for the “rapture.”
Abraham reportedly instructed his church members to go from Kaduna to a camp in Araromi-Ugbesi in Omuo-Oke, Ekiti State, according to the police.
