The Ondo State Government denied a media story claiming that it had started hiring new primary school teachers.
The report was deemed false and potentially deceptive by the State Universal Basic Education Board. According to the article, the board will administer screening tests to hire a new group of primary school teachers.
The board asked the state’s residents to dismiss the information in a statement released by its information officer, Mr. Bisi Agboola, on Thursday in Akure, the state’s capital.
The statement said that for the previous week, the false material had been spreading on Twitter and a phoney website.
The statement read, “The board described the information as untrue and advised members of the public to disregard such information as it was meant to defraud the unsuspecting applicants.
“It will be recalled that Ondo State government has recently approved the recruitment of about 1200 qualified teachers to fill some vacant positions in the primary schools across the 18 Local Government Areas.”
