The governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has accused the Federal Government’s All Progressives Congress (APC) of mismanaging the economy and causing a rise in hunger and poverty across the nation.
This was said by Okowa, the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at an empowerment programme for residents of the Ika Federal Constituency hosted by Mr. Victor Nwokolo, the representative for the area in the House of Representatives, at the Ika North East Local Council.
The governor praised Nwokolo for giving his supporters hope and called the event a “empowerment programme with a difference.” The governor was joined by Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, the speaker of the state house of assembly and the PDP’s candidate for governor in the state.
Okowa claimed that the economic mismanagement in Nigeria was causing people to go hungry and lose their jobs, and that even students were facing difficulties because their parents were unable to provide for them due to the level of poverty brought on by the incompetence of the APC-led Federal Government.

Therefore, he asked Nigerians to back the PDP because it is the only party with a clear knowledge of the problems facing the nation and a clear plan to solve them.
He praised Nwokolo for the empowerment, saying that it was a sign of love for the people, and he urged the recipients to use the supplies and machinery for the benefit of everybody.
Nwokolo had earlier stated that the initiative was meant to give the hopeless renewed hope amidst the nation’s escalating hunger and poverty.
He praised Okowa for his leadership and his work to empower the populace through the state’s many business programmes.
