Abidemi Oluwaseun was detained by the Ogun State Police Command for reportedly paying hoodlums to attack a teacher at the Baptist Girls College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
The 35-year-old suspect is the father of a female student at the school, and he is suspected of hiring hoodlums to attack the teacher after he punished his daughter.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, said in a statement on Tuesday that the man arrived with two thugs at Baptist Girls College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, on Tuesday to attack a teacher whom he suspected of abusing his daughter.
The suspect was arrested together with two others, Fayesele Olabanji, 25, and Alebiosu Quawiyu, 24, according to the PPRO.
The police got a panic call from the school’s principal, according to the PPRO.
According to Oyeyemi, three males entered the school in an unlicensed car, brandishing a brand new cutlass and threatening to slice down a schoolteacher with the cutlass.
He said, “Upon the distress call, the DPO, Kemta division, CSP Opebiyi Sunday, mobilised his men and moved to the scene where the three men were apprehended in the school premises. The unregistered Toyota car and the cutlass were recovered from them.
“On interrogation, Abidemi Oluwaseun confessed to hiring the other two men to the school to teach the teacher who beat his daughter a lesson of his life.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect’s daughter was beaten because while the teacher was teaching, some of the students, including his daughter, were mocking the teacher and distracting other students.
“The teacher after identifying those disturbing the class flogged them as a corrective measure, but the suspect’s daughter went home and reported to her farther consequent upon which her father mobilised two thugs and stormed the school with cutlasses.”
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the suspects be thoroughly investigated and charged in court as soon as feasible, according to Oyeyemi.
