The Labour Party’s Peter Obi has allegedly damaged the political environment in the nation, according to former Goodluck Jonathan adviser Reno Omokri.
Omokri, a fervent supporter of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, made this statement late on Saturday in response to the demonstrations organised nationwide by Obi supporters in preparation for the 2023 presidential election.
Omokri had in a previous tweet claimed that the rally were merely a show of power by southeast traders who shut down their businesses.
He wrote on Twitter, “These so-called ‘one million man marches’ are primarily a gathering of traders in different Nigerian towns and cities, who close down local markets (that are heavily dominated by people of southeastern descent) to do what in the military is called a show of force.”

But after the rallies, Omokri remarked that the Obidient movement should not be ignored by anyone who was politically aware, praising the rallies as outstanding accomplishments.
“The Obidient rallies at Festac and Amuwo were amazing. They are great achievements. Anyone who tries to belittle them is not politically astute. While Obi will not win in 2023, he has successfully disrupted politics in Nigeria. Well done Obi! Well done Obidients!”, he tweeted.
Festus Keyamo (SAN), Minister of State for Labour and Employment and spokesman for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has also commented on the Obidients’ rally on Saturday.
Keyamo made fun of Obi’s supporters by claiming that the crowding Obidients numbered no more than a thousand, which was the minimum number of voters required at each of the two voting locations.
“The aerial shots are the best. Now, look at this: at best the ‘crowd’ here is not more than a thousand people which is approximately just two polling units,” he quote-tweeted a video from one of the rallies.
