The National Universities Commission has made public an updated list of Nigeria’s accredited universities (NUC).
Nigeria now has 198 universities, including 45 federal institutions, 54 state-owned universities, and 99 private universities, according to the commission.
The NUC also provided the year of establishment for each of Nigeria’s authorized universities.
The data and information were released in the Commission’s October 2021 report, which also included other NUC activities as published by the NUC Executive Secretary’s office.
Aside from the approved universities, the NUC also warned members of the public against attending unaccredited universities or campuses of foreign colleges.
