The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced that newly recruited applicants will begin physical training on Monday at NSCDC training institutes across the country.
Mr. Olusola Odumosu, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO), said this in an Abuja statement on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the successful 2019 candidates have just completed the paperwork screening phase, which began in February at the corps headquarters in Sauka, Abuja.
According to Odumosu, all applicants must be physically present for the three-month basic training, which will take place throughout all state formations and the Federal Capital Territory at the same time (FCT).
Before moving in batches for more training and career courses, he said, all candidates will be exposed to regimental orientation as well as the corps’ mandates.
Prior to the announcement, NSCDC Commandant General (CG) Ahmed Audi, he said, had asked zonal commanders and state commandants to make necessary preparations for the training program’s resume.
He added the CG also advised the new recruits to show commitment and exhibit a high level of discipline during the training, saying this would help to refine their abilities for the mission ahead directly tied to the security of lives and protection of important national assets and infrastructure.
The initial draft of the report had been submitted to the CG by the 16-member committee established by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, to prepare a uniform curriculum for NSCDC training institutes.
He said the CG was pleased with the report and vowed to appoint a senior-level internal committee to review the proposed curriculum.
