Ladipo Johnson, a lawyer, has been named as Rabiu Kwankwaso’s running mate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) presidential candidate in 2023.
Johnson, a lawyer, is in the role as a placeholder, InsightnaijaTV reports, in order to satisfy the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to a report reported on The Cable, the emergence of Johnson was verified on Saturday by a top NNPP official who did not want to be identified.
“Barrister Ladipo Johnson is standing in as our vice-presidential candidate and his name has been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission,” the official said.
This comes only hours after Doyin Okupe, the Director-General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organization, admitted that the Labour Party cannot defeat the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress on its own.
The former presidential spokesman stated that the Labour Party requires the assistance of other parties in the country, such as the Social Democratic Party, the Labour Congress, and others.
According to Okupe, the LP is assembling the largest and most powerful political coalition in Nigerian history.
He also emphasized that the Labour Party cannot declare victory until the mergers are completed.
