The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has stated that it is not currently recruiting.
Garba Deen Muhammad, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, issued a statement urging the general public not to fall prey to the antics of fraudsters who may seek to hide behind a phony recruitment process to swindle the public.
According to several websites, the NNPC is currently hiring Nigerians for positions in its many subsidiaries.
One of such post from a fraudulent website reads, “The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced that the corporation are going to be recruiting 1,050 Graduate Trainees, into its various subsidiaries for the 2021/2022 employment exercise.
“The Managing Director NNPC Malam Mele Kyari in a statement made it known to the public that the Human Resource Division of the Corporation has commenced the recruitment process for the employment of 1,050 fresh employees.
“These fresh employees will be drafted into all aspects of Oil & gas industry including exploration, refining, transportation & marketing to boost NNPC operations nationwide.”
But Muhammad in the statement dismissed this, stating that whenever the NNPC decides to conduct a recruitment exercise, it will announce this to the public through authentic public communication channels, including the NNPC’s website.
The statement reads, “This is to inform the public that the information circulating in the Social Media that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is conducting a recruitment exercise IS NOT TRUE and the public should disregard it in its entirety.
“Whenever NNPC decides to conduct a recruitment exercise, it will announce this to the public through authentic public communication channels, including the NNPC’s website (www.nnpcgroup.com). Once again, the NNPC is NOT RECRUITING.”
