The federal government has filed an amended seven- count charges bordering on alleged terrorism against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
However, details of the new charges are yet to emerge as at press time.
Recall that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN had in a press conference on June 26, said that “Kanu was also accused of instigating violence especially in the Southeastern Nigeria that resulted in the loss of lives and property of civilians, military, para military, police forces and destruction of civil institutions and symbols of authorities.”
The fresh charges mean that Kanu would be rearraigned when he appears in court on October 21, disrupting his application to leave DSS custody.
Details of the charges are not yet clear for now as Malami’s spokesperson, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, told our correspondent that “I will get back to you probably tomorrow.”
