The Nigerian Labour Congress organized a peaceful protest in Abuja on Monday in support of the National Assembly’s demand for judicial autonomy.
During a peaceful march to the National Assembly, the Congress also sought autonomy for state legislatures and local government councils around the country.
Workers turned out in huge numbers for the protest, which was headed by NLC President Ayuba Wabba, with placards bearing diverse sentiments.
They also want the Independent National Electoral Commission to be allowed to conduct all local council elections, as opposed to the existing practice of having the State Electoral Commission conduct them.
The retention of labor was also included in the exclusive list by the Congress.
