The minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika on Saturday advised passengers traveling abroad through the Nigeria airports to arrive five hours before the departure time to undergo COVID-19 screening and protocols.
The minister said this at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport when leading members of the Presidential Task force (PTF) on COVID-19 and briefing on some of the measures introduced for the reopening of the airports in the country.
Sirika, said the measures was put in place to reduce risk of contracting the virus.
The minister noted that physical distancing has been put in place,and shall be maintained at the point of entry.
The minister who was happy at the level of preparedness of MMIA said the passengers seat at the lounge has been reduced from 500 to 50 so as to maintain proper distancing, adding that the toilets are COVID-19 complaint.
He also said that the pilot, catering,engineer and other workers at the airport are licensed to carry out certain activities with valid clearance.
In his Contribution, the minister of Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the purpose of the PTF visit was to enlighten Nigerians on the new protocols and processes guiding the reopening of airports.
Also speaking, Dr. Sani Aliyu , the coordinator Presidential Task Force, expressed satisfaction at the level of preparedness and comply with the COVID-19 protocols adding that truly it is ready for reopening.
