National Assembly would not endure any form of negative behavior from appointees of the president, that is capable of jeopardizing the cordial relationship of both the Executive and Legislative arms of Government.
Senate President, Ahmed Lawan stated this after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Abuja.
Lawan said that the National Assembly has been harmoniously working with the president in other to promote good relation for the betterment of the Country.
“I think the relationship between this National Assembly and the Executive arm of Government, particularly Mr. President, is beyond one employee of the president”.
When asked, if the meeting would result to a change of attitude by some of the president appointees, he said “I don’t know what u mean by that, but let me say that this National Assembly has been very supportive, friendly with the Executive arm of Government and there is no doubt in my mind that the president has been quite supportive of the Legislature as well.
“You will recall that in the processing of the budget last year, Mr. President made a very categorical statement that no Minister at that time should travel out of Nigeria without going to the National Assembly to defend his or her budget.
“That had never been done before and that was in support of the Legislature.
