Abubakar Nalaraba, the head of the House of Representatives Committee on Pilgrims Affairs, reaffirmed the support of the National Assembly for the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC).
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in Abuja, Nalaraba made the following statement: “We will do our best to determine when and how the government can intervene to help pilgrimage operations in Nigeria.
He continued, “We in the National Assembly are always prepared to draught the required legislation to improve pilgrimage operations.
The legislator claimed that one of the government’s fundamental social obligations was to provide amenities to pilgrims.

According to Nalaraba, there is nothing wrong with the government funding pilgrims to offer prayers for national peace.
“Pilgrimage is completely spiritual; it is not travel. Nigeria needs prayer, so people go there to pray and connect spiritually with our creator God, he continued.
In particular at this crucial moment, Nalaraba asked governments at all levels to continue funding pilgrims to pray for the country.
He said that the committee would keep collaborating with the commission to improve how well services are provided.
