It has been suggested that President Muhammadu Buhari suspend Godwin Emefiele, the CBN’s governor.
In response to the ongoing naira scarcity, Bola Tinubu’s director of media and publicity, Bayo Onanuga, tweeted that Emefiele should not be in the position of CBN governor after he abandoned the cashless programme.

Onanuga wrote in a tweet: “I am astonished Godwin Emefiele is still in office, without remorse, after he was made to cancel his abhorrent cashless policy.

“President Buhari should suspend him from office. Emefiele should go NOW.”
Before to the presidential election, certain state governors challenged the CBN’s cashless policy in court, and the Supreme Court ruled that the old notes will continue to be valid until December 31, 2023.
