The trial of Azeez Fashola a.k.a. Naira Marley has been postponed until February by Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.
InsightnaijaTV reports that the musician is facing an 11-count accusation of conspiracy and credit card fraud from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
When he was arraigned on May 20, 2019, the musician pled “not guilty” to the accusations.
Augustine Anosike, the second prosecution witness (PW2), finished his cross-examination on October 27, 2021.
Several card numbers recovered from the artist were reported to the court by the forensic analyst.
The case was rescheduled for cross-examination on November 30, 2021, but the witness was unavailable.
The witness was missing on “compassionate grounds,” according to prosecuting attorney Rotimi Oyedepo.
“I got information at about 9.30am while still in the parking lot of the court this morning,” he explained.
Olalekan Ojo (SAN), a defense lawyer, grumbled about the delay, saying the prosecution should have given more warning.
The trial was adjourned until February 16 and 17, 2022, by Justice Oweibo.
