Murphy Afolabi, a Yoruba actor and film producer, died at the age of 49.
Nigerian actor, producer, and director Murphy Afolabi was born in Osogbo, Osun State, on May 9, 1974. He started acting in the late 1990s and was well-known for his parts in films with Yoruba as their primary language.

Many of the actor’s coworkers expressed shock at his sudden death, and their amazement increased when it was learned that he died from injuries incurred when he fell in the restroom. His death, which was confirmed this morning, has plunged the film business into mourning.
People who had recently seen him at public events thought it was incredible that he had died so young; after all, he was supposed to have celebrated his birthday on Friday, May 5, 2023.
Under Dagunro’s direction, Murphy launched his career with the film “Ifa Olokun,” he produced several movies, including “Enu,” “Gbolahan,” “Owo Ale,” “Asake,” and “Igbekun,” among others. He won several awards for his contributions to the Nigerian film industry, including the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Yoruba) at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2012.
