The trial of the Chairman of Hilton hotel, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin and six suspects said to be workers in the hotel where a Master’s degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State Timothy Adegoke Oludare, who had lodged at the hotel was allegedly murdered continued on Monday, March 07, 2022.
The deceased’s elder brother, Gbade stated while testifying before Justice Adepele Ojo of the Osun State High Court, Osogbo that he was approached by one Idmund on the telephone to accept N50 million, while wife of the deceased, was offered N70 million to settle the matter. He however said Dr Rahmon Adedoyin did not personally offer him money.
Gbade, the third prosecution witness, while being led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, M. Omosun,said he saw blood stains on the wall of the room where his brother lodged at Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife when he and some operatives inspected the room while the door to the room was damaged and repaired.
But while being cross examined by Mr K. Eleja, SAN, counsel for the hotel’s owner, Adedoyin, he admitted not writing that there were blood stains on the wall and that the door to the room was damaged in the two statements he wrote before the police, which were earlier admitted as evidence by the court.
According to Gbade, the receptionist on duty the day late Adegoke lodged in the hotel, Adesola Adedeji, told Investigative Police Officer in charge of the case that the hotel’s lodgers’ register had been doctored.
Recalled that the deceased, Timothy Adegoke Oludare, a Chartered Accountant from Eruwa, Oyo State was declared missing by his family after he left Abuja on Friday 5th November 2021 to Akure airport to Ile-Ife. He later lodged at Hilton Hotel at Ile Ife in Osun state. The deceased wife was said to have raised the alarm when she could not reach her husband the next day on the phone.
Oludare was reported missing since he checked in at the hotel on Friday, November 5 preceding his examinations scheduled for Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7.
A family source who said a report was made at the police station added that the hotel at first denied the deceased ever lodged at the hotel.
“We went to the hotel with the Police Anti-kidnapping squad of Oshogbo to make inquiries but they denied the identity of my brother at the hotel. After some hours of investigation, the police arrested six staff of the hotel. It was then they confirmed that my brother lodged at the hotel.
