Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu together with other activist has took to the street of Lagos to sensitize residents on the need to kick against rape and other sexual abuses.
Mrs Sanwo-Olu while speaking with newsmen during the campaign exercise in Gbagada area of Lagos, said the menace of rape could be curb with the collective support of every individual by expressing zero tolerance for it.
She also enjoined all other Local Government Area and LCDAs to emulate the gesture and join the movement by declaring their communities rape free zone.
In a remark, the Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Mr. David Kolade Alabi said standing up against rape and all other forms of Sexual and Gender-based violence against women and children will promote diligence.
Mr. Alabi who also unveil a signpost declaring Bariga as a rape free zone confirms the commitment of critical stakeholders to stamp out the repulsive crime of rape in our society.
The sensitisation walk was tagged #AII Male Walk led by the council chairman and other stakeholders in the area.
In his contribution, The Lagos State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrades Olalekan Biliamin Oba commended the Lagos State first lady for being at the forefront of the war against rape.
