Operation Safe Haven, a Special Task Force tasked with sustaining peace in Plateau, claims it will track down individuals who are feeding the state’s troubles.
The task force’s commander, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, stated this on Saturday in Jos.
Ali remarked while receiving findings from a task force-created special peace committee.
On September 11, the task force established a committee to propose alternatives for achieving long-term peace in the state.
The commander also issued a warning to community leaders who harbor criminals in their communities to stop committing crimes or face the consequences.
“I want to send a strong warning to crisis merchants and those that allow their communities to be used as hideouts for criminals.
“We will deal decisively with anyone found harbouring criminals irrespective of position and status in the society,” he said.
Ali urged traditional, religious, and community leaders to back the task team in its efforts to bring peace to the entire state.
He urged residents of the state to serve as peace ambassadors and to help construct a better Plateau.
