Traders in Alade Market in Ikeja want the Lagos State Assembly to intervene in their plight as they say that the location of the market constitutes environmental and health hazards.
The traders, who embarked on a peaceful protest to the Assembly, in Alausa, Ikeja, said that the current location of the market reeked of human and environmental wastes.
The leader of the protesting traders, Mrs. Olayinka Adigun said that their shops were close to the road before the Local Government relocated them close to the canal pending reconstruction that should last eighteen months, but had taken five years and yet not completed.
Responding to the protesters, the Chairman House Committee on Information, Security and Strategy, Mr. David Setonji said the Assembly would take up the matter. The protesting traders from Alade Market, Ikeja later submitted a petition to the State Assembly.
