Suspected bandits stormed a mosque in Ba’are village, Mashegu Local Government Area, Niger State, leaving many people dead or injured.
The attackers allegedly struck as locals were praying early in the morning.
The attack was confirmed by the Niger state Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, who said no fewer than 9 individuals were slain.
“The Niger state police command has already drafted security personnel to the affected area in order to further safeguard lives and properties in that community,” CP Kuryas stated.
He emphasized that security agencies will continue to defend the lives and property of Nigerlites and Nigerians, while also requesting solid intelligence from the people.
The attack comes less than two months after bandits killed murdered 18 worshippers at a mosque in the same local government, according to InsightnaijaTV.
