Paul Ince, a former Manchester United player, has made an unexpected prediction that the team will win the Champions League this season.
In the round of 16 of the competition, Ralf Rangnick’s side will face Atletico Madrid.
United had faced a LaLiga team in the group stages, Villarreal, and had beaten Unai Emery side both at home and away, topping the group after losing their first game.
And because of the nature of knockout sport, Ince, a two-time Premier League champion, believes the Red Devils can go all the way.
“They can win the Champions League, people will think I’m mad, but they can,” Ince told The Mirror.
“United can beat anybody on their day. Anybody, no matter who they are.
“In knockout football, if you are on your game and on form and with the world class players they’ve got, there’s no reason they can’t get to a Champions League final or win it.”
