The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Alfa Muhammed, a 57-year-old commercial driver, for reportedly stabbing his estranged wife, 40, to death.
The suspect, a resident of Lande B village in Adamawa State’s Gombi Local Government Area, allegedly had a disagreement with his wife, Hamsatu, which resulted in their separation, with the wife transferring to a house near their home.
According to accounts, in an effort to make her new apartment more comfortable, she pulled a zinc door from their previous home and installed it in her new residence.
Angered by Hamsatu’s actions, the suspect allegedly stabbed her in the neck with a knife, knocking her out and rushing her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Alfa Muhammed was seized by police from the Gombi divisional headquarters after the village head of Lande, Babangida Boka, made a complaint.
The suspect and the deceased had eight children together before the event, according to the authorities.
DSP Suleiman Nguroje, a spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence in a statement, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, had ordered an investigation.
