The parents of a housewife in Kwankashe, Suleja, have been charged by the police in Niger state before a magistrates’ court in Madalla.
The parents’ arrest followed their daughter’s kidnapping from her marital residence.
Godgift Ekwedi and his wife, Eshima Ekwedi, went to their daughter’s matrimonial house in the Rafinsanyi neighborhood of Suleja and took her away without the husband’s permission, according to the prosecutor, ASP John Ateni.
He claimed they also transformed the home to their personal use and removed household things worth N2.5 million from it.
The accusers demanded bail while refuting the charges.
They were granted bail by Magistrate Ruth Ibrahim with a required Madalla resident as their guarantee, and the case was continued to September 5.
