Manchester City suffered its second defeat in its Premier League championship defense on Saturday, as Crystal Palace won 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium thanks to goals from Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher.
Aymeric Laporte was sent off in first-half stoppage time for hauling down Zaha when he was the last man, thus ending City’s chances of recovering from Zaha’s sixth-minute goal.
Gabriel Jesus had a goal disallowed in the 60th minute for a minor offside against Phil Foden in the buildup.
Gallagher then scored on the break in the 88th minute, handing City their first league loss since the opening round against Tottenham.
City has fallen five points behind league leader Chelsea.
