A man is in custody after reportedly killing his two children by stoning, according to the Adamawa State Police Command.
Elisha Tari, 25, was allegedly accused of killing two of his children, who were between the ages of three and five, in the Himikidu hamlet of Michika Local Government Area on Friday, August 18, 2022 according to the command.
The Command said that Tari killed the kids with stones and sticks “which he had used in beating them on their heads multiple times” in a statement that was signed and given to reporters on Saturday afternoon by police spokesman Suleiman Nguroje.
The grandpa of the victims reported the crime to the Divisional Authorities Headquarters in Michika, according to the police.
A misunderstanding between the mother of the victims and the suspect, according to the statement, caused them to become estranged two months ago.
The suspect was detained by police while attempting to flee to the Cameroon Republic, according to the police, and is currently being questioned while being held in police custody.
According to the police, part of their investigations will involve figuring out why the man would kill his own children with stones and sticks.
According to the statement, “the Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Akande, who expressed his sorrow over the inhuman conduct, asked the Deputy Commissioner of Police CID to take over the investigation and ensure the conviction of the suspect to serve as a deterrent to others.”
