When their contracts expire at the end of this month, Liverpool has confirmed the departure of seven players, including forward Divock Origi.
Loris Karius, former first-team players Sheyi Ojo and Ben Woodburn, as well as three members of the club’s academy, have all been discharged.
Origi spent eight years in Merseyside, scoring the game-winning goal in Liverpool’s 4-3 aggregate victory over FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League semi-final in 2019.
“Divock Origi will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June,” Liverpool announced in a statement announcing the Belgian’s departure.
“Thank you for an incredible eight years of service and leaving us with so many special memories. @DivockOrigi, Liverpool legend”.
Karius made headlines for his blunder-plagued performance in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, and he spent the majority of his Liverpool career on loan.
Ojo played 13 times for the senior team, scoring once in the FA Cup triumph over Exeter.
When he scored in the League Cup match against Leeds United at the age of 17, Woodburn became the club’s youngest goalscorer, a title he still maintains.
