Oba Olalekan Balogun, the recently crowned Olubadan of Ibadan, has committed to work for the progress and development of Ibadan and Nigeria in general.
Oba Balogun made the vow on Friday at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the state capital, during his installation as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Speaking after his installation, the monarch swore not to disappoint the people of Ibadanland and Nigeria throughout his reign as Olubadan.
Balogun, who would succeed Oba Saliu Adetunji, who died on January 2, 2022, has stated that Ibadanland will be at peace during his tenure as Olubadan.
He said: “I want to assure all that I will not the people of Ibadan down. I will not let the people of Nigeria down.”
The new Olubadan thanked Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu for attending the ceremony.
Balogun also praised Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, former governors, and members of the National Assembly for attending his coronation.
He praised the Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, and other traditional rulers in attendance.
