Mr. Chukwuka Ezenwune, the member representing Anambra’s Idemili South State Constituency, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) (PDP).
On Tuesday, Ezenwune revealed his defection in the Anambra House of Assembly session.
The congressman claimed that he left APGA because of a lack of internal democracy and a few individuals’ hijacking of the party.
He claimed he joined the APGA in 2012 in the hopes of it becoming into a national party with more governorship seats outside of Anambra, but it has been a case of “one step forward, ten steps back.”
When compared to other constituencies, Ezenwune claimed he was ashamed of the developments in his own.
According to him, I am happy to join the PDP which is well organized and built beyond strong individuals.
“I cannot point to the project in my Local Government Area apart from the one I built as Constituency project and the Community Chose your Project of the state government.
“During the last Congress, I and my supporters were viciously sidelined, so I realized I have no future in APGA and I consulted with my people.
“I have helped to build the party since I joined but I have to go because it is not the Igbo party like they are making people to believe,” he said.
APGA had earlier lost four of its state lawmakers in Anambra to the All Progressives Congress including the state deputy governor, Mr Nkem Okeke.
