The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr Olajide Oduyoye says his men have been strategically positioned to ensure free flow of traffic across the State.
Speaking with newsmen in Alausa Ikeja on the management of traffic on the 3rd Mainland Bridge which is partially closed for repair works, Mr Oduyoye who said about 650 LASTMA officials have been deployed to work with officials of the FRSC in directing vehicular traffic on the Bridge and on alternative routes, said the men have been operating three shifts, lasting eight hour each to manage traffic
Stressing that though his men have been directed not to enforce minor traffic infractions during this period, the LASTMA GM stated that apart from those working on the 3rd Mainland and alternative routes, many other officials have been deployed to various intersections across the State and motorists will do themselves a lot of good by cooperating with them.
Mr Oduyoye appealed to those trading on the highway, thereby causing obstruction and commercial bus drivers who willfully disobey traffic regulations to desist.
On his part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr Oluwatoyin Fayinka said LASTMA officials have been retrained to discharge their duties in a professional manner and are specially prepared for the task on the 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Currently, the 3rd Mainland Bridge is partially closed for repairs from last Friday till January 24, 2021.
