The Chairman of the Lagos State Independence Electoral Commission,(LASIEC) Hon. Justice Ayotunde Adeyoola Phillips has charged the Local Government Area boss to get prepared for election next year.
Justice Phillips who was represented by Dr. Bunmi Omosehindemi advised the Local Government chairmen to justify the confidence repose in them by the electorate.
Dr. Omosehindemi said that
“the electorate are getting more enlightened, they yearn for dividends of democracy, only credible leaders will enjoy re-election because your score cards will be scrutinised”,
“The law allows for two terms but the electorate will determine your suitability”.
Dr. Omosehindemi , however urged the Local Government Chairmen to provide conducive environments for LASIEC officers during the exercise.
“LASIEC officers all over the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas have sensitive Electoral materials, you are expected to provide a conducive accommodation for LASIEC officials in order to enhance their operations .”
“The working tour became essential at this period in order to draw attention of the Council Chairmen to the Calendar of LASIEC”.
