Lagos State Government has reiterated it’s committment towards attaining food Sufficiency by 2030, through it’s intregrated agricultural value chain, five years master plan.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Miss Bisola Olusanya gave the assurance while rolling out the score card of her ministry at a media conference in Alausa – lkeja, as part of activities to mark the 2nd anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in office.
Speaking on the ongoing Rice Mill in lmota, Miss Olusanya who announced that so far, about twenty billion has been expended on the project, said the 32 metric tonnes Rice Mill will be completed and inaugurated this year and create
not less than 250,000 jobs across the value chain.
While noting that Lagosians spend about five Trillion on food items annually and 85 percent of such items are brought in from other parts, Miss Olusanya explained that the State Government is wooing the private to sector to establish ten additional abbatoirs to strengthen the value chain in Red meat production and
35 hectares of land has been earmarked in lgbonla, Epe ,by the State Government for the production of Fingerlings to boost fish production in the State.
She also added that the State Government will also put in measures in the Agricultural value chain to produce more quality food varieties and reduce post – Harvest wastages.
