Lagos State Government on Monday, June 29, 2020 announced its plans to establish a Radio Station mainly dedicated to education of pupils in the State.
The State commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo said this at the presentation of 5,000 transistor radios by Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, COWLSO in collaboration with Office of Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu to the Ministry of Education, in Lagos House Marina.
Adefisayo said that the intended radio station would go a long way in ensuring sustainable access to education contents mostly at this time when the Country is posed by COVID-19 pandemic.
The proposed radio station will be coming after Lagos Traffic Radio Station was built by the former Governor of Lagos State and now Minister of Works and housing, Mr. Babajide Fashola, SAN, which focuses on traffic issues across the State.
She added that the received radios will be distributed to pupils and students in the State, especially those at the remote communities to ensure access to some of the already available stations dedicated to education.
In her contribution, the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu said the presentation was part of measures drawn to compliment effort of Government in its bid to boost education despite the COVID-19 challenges.
She added that it is in line with the T.H.E.M.E. agenda of Governor Sanwo-Olu led administration in the State.
