The Lagos State Assembly has passed the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission( Amendment) Bill 2020.
The bill, which amends the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission Law of 2015, was unanimously passed by all members present at the plenary session of the assembly after the third reading.
The law will give legal backing and operational modules to the new financial autonomy granted State Legislatures and Judiciary in Section 121(3) of the 4th Alteration of the 1999 Constitution, which President Muhammadu Buhari issued Executive Order on in May for its immediate implementation.

The bill which is now waiting for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s assent consists of twelve amendments and seven new sections.
