The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration commitment towards the establishment of an integrated lnter-model transportation system, by improving land transport, Waterways and rail- line in other to ensure seamless transportation across the Lagos metropolis.
The Governor gave the assurance at the inauguration of the Oshodi-Abule Egba BRT bus lane and the unveiling of 550 high and medium capacity buses in lyana-Dopemu area, along the Lagos – Abeokuta Expressway.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said that recent survey revealed that the Oshodi-Abule Egba route has one of the highest human and vehicular traffic movement in the state, adding that the project is aimed at reducing the journey hours of commuters on that axis of Lagos.
While explaining that the State Government has introduced an e -payment services on BRT buses through smart cards for commuters in Lagos to enjoy a cashless bus transport system, Governor Sanwo-olu said one hundred thousand of such cards are ready for collection for free at BRT terminus across the state.
The Governor also urged Lagosians to take ownership of all Government projects in their domain, so as to ensure their durability.
He also used the medium to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for assisting the Lagos State Government to clear the new buses, which has been at the Port for about a year.
Earlier in his address, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Fredrick Oladeinde who said there is synergy between all agencies in the State transport sector to establish a world class transport system in the State, urged Lagosians to reciprocate the good gesture of Government through the project, by patronizing the BRT bus service in the state.
He added that the launching of the E ticketing system in Lagos, is a giant stride in terms of the THEMES agenda of the present administration.
The Inauguration was well attended by the stakeholders in the State transport sectors including the NURTW and RTEAN state chairmen.
