Lagos State Government has announced that this year’s Biometric Verification exercise for Pensioners under the State Civil Service will be conducted online.
The announcement was made at a media briefing in Alausa, Ikeja by the Commissioner for Ministry of Establishment,Training and Pension Mrs. Ajibola Ponle said that the state government is introducing the online verification of pensioners in order to contain the possible spread of coronavirus in the state as a result of high turnout of participants for the verification exercise.
The commissioner while explaining the initial method of conducting the exercise said that “pensioners gathered at their respective Local Government Area for physical biometric verification tag” Am Alive ” but this year it will however be done online at their comfort using the zoom and Skype platform to interact with officials of the ministry.
She stressed that the manual verification exercise will still be in place for retirees who are not internet compliance in order to ensure everyone participate in the exercise.
According to her the online biometric verification of pensioners exercise is expected to run for three weeks.
In his contribution the President of the Lagos State Association of Retirees, head of Service and Permanent Secretary Mr Ajibola Olagbaye commended the initiative of the state government, noting that it will remove the various problems and challenges that retirees go through during the verification exercise.
Mr Olagbaiye also called on all retirees and pensionnaires to insure they partake in this year’s exercise.
