The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, LASODA, has distributed empowerment materials to people with special needs as parts of its socio-economic development for people living all forms of disability today wednesday 17 June, 2020.
The Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr Segun Dawodu while presenting the items to the beneficiaries in Alausa Ikeja, said the State Government organized the training programme to change the economic Status of People with Disability.
The beneficiaries who were drawn from various Special peoples association, had earlier been trained during a five weeks programme in various vocation such as Bead making, head making, Hair dryer, sewing machines, bag making, shoe making, cosmetology, electrical installation, Tie and dye, graphics design and phone engineering.
The commissioner also urge the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items giving to them in other to be independent and contribute their part to the economic growth of the State.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with our correspondent expressed appreciation to the State Government Intv that the training and items we received would enable us to take care of themselves, feed their families and at the same time their quota to the State economy.
About 31 out of the 300 beneficiaries who were trained received their empowerment materials today, while the remaining are expected to get theirs in batches as a result of the social distancing rule put in place for the prevention of the spread of Covid-19.
